The Surprise Sacking of Ernst Middendorp
Gavin Hunt, a four-time DStv Premiership champion, couldn’t comprehend Chiefs’ choice to part ways with Ernst Middendorp in September 2020. To him, it made little sense, given that Middendorp’s team had lost the league title in the last 15 minutes of the season.
“When I went in there, they had just come second by 15 minutes,” Hunt remarked during an interview with Onside.
He was surprised that Chiefs had fired Middendorp, considering their second-place finish. This turn of events provided an opening for Hunt to join the club, and it marked the beginning of a new chapter.
Chiefs’ Upcoming Clash with AmaZulu
Kaizer Chiefs will be back in action this weekend following a two-week break. Molefi Ntseki’s Chiefs will face Durban giants AmaZulu in the Carling Knockout last 16.
The match is scheduled to take place at FNB Stadium on Saturday at 18:00.
