Gary Lineker Chooses Cozy Dinner with Ex-Wife Danielle Bux Over Attending the 2024 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Ceremony in Salford

Gary Lineker made an interesting decision to skip the 2024 BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony, instead spending a cozy evening with his ex-wife, Danielle Bux.

While his colleagues were at MediaCityUK in Salford for the prestigious event, the football pundit, aged 64, opted for a relaxed dinner with Danielle at Dorian Restaurant in Notting Hill.

A Warm Evening Together

Danielle, 45, took to Instagram to share moments from their night.

Posting pictures of their table with wine and salad, she tagged Gary and wrote “Christmas tipple,” giving fans a glimpse of their cozy dinner.

She also shared a sweet selfie with Gary as they waited for their night tube home, showing just how comfortable the two remain despite their separation.

A Big Career Transition for Gary

Gary’s decision to step down from hosting SPOTY after 23 years was made public in November, marking a significant career shift.

His regular co-hosts—Clare Balding, Gabby Logan, and Alex Scott—took the reins at the 2024 ceremony.

In addition to stepping down from SPOTY, Gary also announced his departure from Match of the Day at the end of the season, after 25 years as the iconic host.

A Strong Friendship Post-Divorce

Despite their split in 2016, Gary and Danielle have remained close.

Danielle moved to Los Angeles after their divorce, but she still stays with Gary whenever she’s in London.

Their split stemmed from differing views on having children—Gary already had four sons, while Danielle, who has a daughter from a previous relationship, wanted to have more children.

Gary has spoken openly about the decision, explaining that their parting was amicable, as both wanted what was best for each other.

New Chapters and Relationships

Since their split, Danielle remarried in 2019 to American entertainment lawyer Nate Greenwald, and they have a daughter, Romy, who is now seven years old.

Gary, however, has stayed single.

He has shared that he enjoys his independence and has even claimed that he isn’t seeking another long-term relationship.

Despite this, rumors about his personal life continue, such as his night out with Leila Bartell in May.

Leila, a friend of Amber Heard, was seen with Gary and mutual friend Jemima Khan, fueling speculation about a potential romance.

Gary’s Evolving View on Relationships

Gary’s reflections on his relationships and future have been candid.

He explained that, after two long marriages, he’s content being single and doesn’t feel the need to rush into another relationship.

Although he occasionally dates, Gary has emphasized that he’s not interested in a long-term commitment at this stage in his life.

Despite the occasional rumors, he’s happy with the friendship he shares with Danielle and continues to cherish their connection.
