A tragic incident occurred in which a two-year-old boy lost his life by drowning in a water pool in Cottonlands, KwaZulu-Natal. The distress call was made by a local Councillor, who urgently contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance.

Upon the arrival of RUSA’s officers and medics, it was discovered that the community had already managed to retrieve the lifeless body of the two-year-old. Medical professionals at the scene conducted an examination and unfortunately confirmed the child’s passing, as reported by ArriveAlive.

According to local residents, the toddler had been playing with friends before he suddenly went missing. An immediate search was initiated, resulting in the discovery of the child submerged in a water pool formed near a bridge due to a malfunctioning drainage pipe.

Tragically, the child’s parents were not present during this devastating incident as they were at work. The entire community is in mourning due to this heart-wrenching loss.

In a separate incident, the body of a man was recovered from the Tugela River after a search conducted by IPSS Search and Rescue, PACSys, SAPS K9 Search and Rescue, and Mandeni Lifeguards. The search had been interrupted due to diminishing light the previous night, but it was resumed the next morning using a drone, resulting in the successful recovery of the man’s body.
