Death of an inmate from Grand Valley Institution

March 4, 2022 – Kingston, Ontario – Correctional Service Canada

On March 3, 2022, Lois Jean Reid, an inmate from Grand Valley Institution, died while in our custody of apparent natural causes.

At the time of death, Ms. Reid, 83 years old, had been serving an indeterminate sentence since January 19, 1993, for second degree murder.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
