Cristiano Ronaldo played a crucial role in securing a 3-1 win for Al-Nassr against Al-Gharafa in the AFC Champions League on Monday.
With his goals in the match, Ronaldo reached a career milestone, marking his 912th and 913th goals.
The victory brought the Saudi side closer to qualifying for the tournament’s quarterfinals, as they now need just two more points from their remaining three group games.
A Strong Start to the Second Half
Although Ronaldo had several chances in the first half at Al-Bayt Stadium, he struggled to find the net.
However, just 50 seconds after the second-half whistle, he made his mark, scoring with a powerful header from close range.
The assist came from Sultan Al Ghannam’s perfectly placed cross. Ronaldo wasn’t done there—he doubled his tally in the 64th minute, taking his total to four goals in this season’s AFC Champions League.
Unbeaten Streak Continues
Al-Nassr’s win keeps them unbeaten in their first five matches in the competition’s western section, placing them second in the 12-team table.
This performance also helped lift the team’s spirits after a disappointing loss to Al-Qadsiahfell in the Saudi Pro League, which had left Ronaldo visibly frustrated.
That defeat had put Al-Nassr six points behind leaders Al-Hilal, who are also their rivals in the title race.
Ronaldo’s Continued Excellence at Al-Nassr
Since joining Al-Nassr in January 2023, Ronaldo has been in impressive form, scoring 71 goals in 81 appearances.
However, despite his personal success, the team finished second in the Saudi Pro League last season, trailing Al-Hilal by 14 points.
This season, Ronaldo has netted seven goals and provided two assists in 10 league appearances as he aims for domestic success in what is likely to be one of his final seasons as a professional footballer.
The win over Al-Gharafa is a step in the right direction as Al-Nassr looks to secure more trophies under Ronaldo’s leadership.
