Inquest into Mohbad’s Death to Begin on Friday

The coroner’s inquest into the untimely demise of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, more commonly known as Mohbad, is set to commence this Friday.

This development was confirmed by Magistrate Taofikat Shotobi in a letter dated September 26th, addressed to the law firm Falana and Falana Chambers. The inquest is scheduled to take place at the Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos.

Law Firm’s Request Prompts Coroner’s Action

The initiation of the inquest follows a formal request made by the Falana and Falana Chambers in a letter dated September 18, 2023.

This letter was addressed to the Chief Coroner of the High Court of Lagos State, Justice Mojisola Dada. The law firm’s request aimed to uncover the circumstances surrounding what they described as the “very tragic” and “mysterious” death of Mohbad.

Coroner’s Response to the Request

In response to the law firm’s request, the coroner, Magistrate Taofikat Shotobi, affirmed that she had received directives from the Chief Coroner of Lagos State, Hon. Justice Mojisola Dada.

These directives are in accordance with the provisions outlined in Sections 14 and 15 of the Coroner’s System Law of Lagos State, Cap C15, Laws of Lagos State 2015.

Background on Mohbad’s Passing

Mohbad, the 27-year-old singer, tragically passed away on September 12, 2023, a loss that deeply affected many.

He was laid to rest in Ikorodu, Lagos State, the day following his demise. The upcoming coroner’s inquest is expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding his death and provide clarity to concerned parties.
