She described how alcohol often served as an escape for Wayne, especially during difficult times.
“Alcohol has a lot to answer for,” she said, explaining that his drinking problems often led to a breakdown in communication and worsened mental health.
She revealed how, in moments of distress, Wayne would bottle up his feelings instead of confronting them, and this would lead to binge drinking.
Despite these issues, Coleen emphasized that Wayne doesn’t crave alcohol daily, but when faced with life’s challenges, he struggles to control his drinking, sometimes making poor decisions.

However, during their conversation, she admitted feeling nervous about how the public viewed her.
“Mum, have I been boring?” she asked, a question that broke her mother’s heart.
