Victor Osimhen: A High-Profile Target
Pochettino’s primary target appears to be Napoli star Victor Osimhen, who has been prolific in Italy. Osimhen boasts an impressive record of 64 goals in 109 games for the Serie A champions.
However, doubts loom over his future at Napoli, especially after the club’s controversial TikTok video seemingly mocking him for missing a penalty.
Chelsea is reportedly willing to make a significant financial commitment, with a potential £100 million deal in the works, despite already having spent a considerable sum under Todd Boehly’s ownership.
Ivan Toney: An Intriguing Option
In addition to Osimhen, there’s another striker on Pochettino’s radar. Ivan Toney, currently playing for Brentford, is under consideration.
Toney, who has netted an impressive 68 goals in 124 games, is currently suspended until January due to a breach of FA betting rules.
This suspension has led to speculation about his future with the London club.
Chelsea is evaluating the possibility of securing Toney’s services for a more modest sum, with Brentford valuing him at around £60 million.
However, they might face competition from Arsenal, who have a longstanding interest in Toney and could potentially make a bid.
Toney himself appears open to the idea of an Emirates move, but Arsenal may need to offload a forward before making any significant moves, considering their depth in attacking options.
