Special Investigator Submits Interim Report to President Tinubu
Jim Obazee, the Special Investigator appointed to scrutinize the activities of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has reportedly presented an interim report to President Bola Tinubu.
The investigation, initiated by Tinubu on July 28, 2023, appointed Obazee, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, to lead the inquiry into the CBN’s operations during the tenure of its suspended governor, Godwin Emefiele.
Anti-Corruption Focus of the Investigation
In the official letter, personally signed by President Tinubu, the endeavor was framed within the broader context of the government’s ongoing anti-corruption efforts.
The President urged Jim Obazee to collaborate with relevant security and anti-corruption agencies in order to fulfill the objectives of the investigation.
In addition to the CBN, Obazee’s mandate extends to investigating the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) and other Government Business Entities.
He is assisted by a team with the requisite expertise and capabilities.
Submission of Preliminary Findings
Sources within the presidency, speaking anonymously to The Punch, disclosed that the interim report has been submitted for President Tinubu’s review and consideration.
These preliminary findings are seen as instrumental in the recent leadership changes at the CBN and are anticipated to influence critical decisions aimed at advancing the country’s interests.

The president and his advisory team are presently engaged in a thorough examination of the interim report.
This comprehensive review process is being undertaken with the intention of determining the appropriate course of action in response to the investigative findings.
