Model and actor Cara Delevingne has publicly acknowledged for the first time that she was romantically involved with Amber Heard during the actress’s highly publicized divorce from Johnny Depp.
Speaking on a recent podcast interview, Delevingne said the pair became “entangled” after Heard’s marriage ended, clarifying longstanding speculation about the nature of their relationship.
Delevingne Addresses Longstanding Rumors
Appearing on The Louis Theroux Podcast, Delevingne explained that she first became close to Heard while working on the film London Fields, a production that also involved Depp.
She said that while rumors circulated during the filming period, nothing romantic had happened at that stage. According to Delevingne, their relationship developed later as Heard navigated the end of her marriage.
Reflecting on that period, Delevingne suggested Depp had been “driven crazy by jealousy,” while emphasizing that the romantic involvement occurred after the couple’s separation.
Comments Reference Other Relationships
During the interview, Delevingne also referred to Heard’s previously reported relationships with other people, including Elon Musk.
She remarked that Heard had also been “entangled” with others during that chapter of her life, without providing further details.
Divorce and Defamation Case Drew Global Attention
Heard filed for divorce from Depp in May 2016 and sought a restraining order, alleging she had experienced abuse during their marriage.
The dispute later escalated into a widely followed legal battle after Depp sued Heard for defamation over a 2018 opinion article in which she described herself as a public figure representing domestic abuse.
Following a six-week televised trial in 2022, the jury largely ruled in Depp’s favor, awarding him compensatory and punitive damages, while also finding in Heard’s favor on one of her counterclaims.
Heard Has Rebuilt Her Life in Spain
Since the conclusion of the legal proceedings, Heard has largely stayed out of the public spotlight.
She relocated to Madrid, Spain, with her daughter, Oonagh Paige, in search of a quieter life. According to previous reports, she later welcomed twins and has focused on raising her children away from Hollywood.
Sources close to the actress have previously said the move allowed her to begin a new chapter following the intense public scrutiny surrounding the trial.
Delevingne Reflects on Love and Sobriety
Beyond discussing her past relationship with Heard, Delevingne spoke candidly about her personal life and how sobriety has changed her perspective on relationships.
She described her current relationship with musician Minke as the first time she has experienced what she considers genuine love, explaining that previous relationships were often affected by work commitments and substance use.
Delevingne said her relationship now takes priority in her life, adding that she no longer believes a non-monogamous lifestyle is right for her.
Actress Speaks About Future Family Plans
The interview also touched on Delevingne’s hopes of becoming a parent in the future.
She said she does not view having children as a solution to personal challenges but believes parenthood could help her continue healing from difficult experiences earlier in life.
According to Delevingne, imagining the responsibilities of caring for a child has deepened her understanding of her own upbringing and strengthened her desire to eventually start a family.
