Caleb Clarke Apologizes for Dangerous Driving Incident in Auckland After Failing to Stop for Police

All Blacks winger Caleb Clarke has expressed deep regret following his involvement in a dangerous driving incident.

In an interview on Monday, Clarke admitted to charges of dangerous driving, as reported by New Zealand media.

The Incident

The incident occurred in December 2024 when Clarke, riding his motorbike through Auckland, failed to stop when police attempted to pull him over.

According to the New Zealand Herald, the 25-year-old was charged with one count of dangerous driving and one count of failing to stop.

In a statement to Radio New Zealand, Clarke admitted to making a “mistake in judgment” and apologized for his actions.

He said, “I’m extremely apologetic and embarrassed.”

Clarke also mentioned that the court and employment processes are ongoing, but he is now focused on his rugby career.

Clarke Takes Responsibility

New Zealand Rugby confirmed that they were aware of the incident and reiterated that Clarke had taken full responsibility for his actions.

The rugby body also noted that the matter is now part of an employment process.

Clarke has been starting for the Blues in this year’s Super Rugby Pacific competition, though the defending champions have struggled, finding themselves at the bottom of the standings after two rounds.

Looking Forward

As the legal proceedings continue, Clarke is hoping the charges will be dismissed without conviction, according to local reports.

Meanwhile, he’s determined to put the incident behind him and concentrate on his rugby performance moving forward.
