Bye, bye West! Kim Kardashian now ‘legally single’ amid divorce drama

Reality star and businesswoman Kim Kardashian has been declared legally single from Kanye West after a ruling by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Steve Cochran on Wednesday 2 March.

KIM KARDASHIAN IS LEGALLY SINGLE

Kim will no longer go by her marital surname “Kardashian West” so she has her single status back. The reality star appeared at the hearing via video conference. During the hearing the judge asked Kim if she would like to change her surname back and she said yes.

The Skims founder also replied “yes” when a judge asked if there was a breakdown in the marriage. A source told Page Six that Kim smiled after she got her single status back.

“After the judge read the questions and told her she now has her single status back, Kim smiled,” said a source to Page Six.

This comes just a week after the reality star begged a judge to sign her divorce papers.

“I very much desire to be divorced. Kanye has been putting a lot of misinformation regarding our private matters and co-parenting on social media, which has created emotional distress,” said Kim according to Page Six.

KANYE WEST’S LAWYER WEIGHS IN

Kanye’s new attorney is Samantha Spector, who he hired last minute after firing his previous attorney less than 24 hours before the hearing. She said that the rapper had “no issues” with Kim getting her name back but he was concerned over “assets and interest.”

The attorney went on to say that Kanye wanted to “make sure his trust was protected.” Kim’s attorney Laura Wasser objected to the reality star’s trust being frozen because she uses the trust for her business. The judge sided with the Keeping Up With The Kardashians side on the issue.

The businesswoman forest filed to be legally single in December 2021 after filing for divorce in February 2021. The pair have four children together North (8), Saint (6), Chicago, (4), and Psalm, (2).
