Bukayo Saka Faces Extended Eight-Week Injury Layoff as Arsenal Fans Await His Return from Hamstring Setback

Saka’s Injury Update: Another Long Road to Recovery

Arsenal fans are still waiting for the return of their star winger, Bukayo Saka, who’s set to be sidelined for another eight weeks as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

While it’s a tough blow for the Gunners, there’s a bit of good news in that Saka is reportedly progressing well in his recovery.

When Did It Happen?

The 23-year-old sustained the injury on December 21, 2024, during Arsenal’s dominant 5-1 win against Crystal Palace.

Just a few days later, he underwent surgery on December 29.

Doctors estimated it would take around 10 to 12 weeks for a full recovery, putting his potential return sometime in March or April.

No Setbacks, But a Timeline Still Uncertain

While reports indicate that Saka hasn’t experienced any setbacks and his recovery is on track, there’s still uncertainty about when exactly he’ll be back on the pitch.

Recent reports suggest that he could miss another eight weeks, which would bring him back around mid-April.

While surgery took place at the end of December, the severity of his injury means no firm return date has been set for the crucial winger.

Saka’s Absence and Arsenal’s Growing Injury Woes

The news of Saka’s extended absence comes at a challenging time for Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta, with several other key players also sidelined.

Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Martinelli are all out of action at the moment, further depleting the squad as the season reaches its critical stages.

Kai Havertz, 25, is the latest casualty, having picked up a hamstring injury during a training session in Dubai.

It’s added to Arteta’s growing list of injury concerns, particularly after Jesus was ruled out for the rest of the season due to a serious injury in the FA Cup against Manchester United.

Martinelli’s injury is also concerning.

After picking up a knock during Arsenal’s Carabao Cup semi-final match against Newcastle United, the Brazilian could be out for up to a month.

Arsenal’s January Transfer Window Challenges

The long-term injuries to key players like Saka and Jesus prompted Arsenal to look for attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window.

However, their bid to sign Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins was rejected, and any hopes of bolstering the squad further were dashed when young French striker Mathys Tel chose to join Tottenham on loan from Bayern Munich.

As Arsenal battles through this tough period, fans can only hope that Saka’s recovery stays on track and that the Gunners can weather the storm until their key players return.
