President Tinubu Pledges Support for National Population Commission’s Census Efforts

President Tinubu’s Pledge of Support

President Bola Tinubu has pledged his support to the National Population Commission (NPC) in conducting the postponed census in Nigeria. This assurance comes as part of his commitment to advancing data collection and management in the country.

Emphasizing Data’s Role in National Growth

During the launch of the National Geospatial Data Repository, Digital CRVS System, and the inauguration of the National Coordination Committee for CRVS at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, President Tinubu stressed the significance of data in fostering national growth.

He called for collaborative efforts among various government ministries, departments, and agencies to ensure efficient data collection.

Utilizing Cutting-Edge Technology

President Tinubu encouraged census experts to leverage cutting-edge technology in gathering data on Nigeria’s population.

He emphasized the importance of staying at the forefront of efficient data sourcing, considering the country’s substantial potential for growth.

Acknowledging the Postponed Census

It is worth noting that the previous administration, led by Muhammadu Buhari, allocated N200 billion to the Population Commission for the organization of a national census.

However, due to other pressing needs and exigencies, the census was postponed. President Tinubu affirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the NPC in conducting the upcoming census.

Partnership with Private Solution Providers

In his closing remarks, President Tinubu expressed gratitude to private solution providers for their contribution to the data collection efforts.

He also assured private investors of the government’s willingness to partner with them at all levels in furthering data-related initiatives.

President Tinubu’s support for the NPC and emphasis on efficient data collection underscore the government’s commitment to informed decision-making and national development.
