Ben Murray-Bruce Urges Unity and Acceptance of Supreme Court’s 2023 Election Verdict

Supreme Court’s 2023 Election Ruling: Ben Murray-Bruce’s Appeal for Unity

Former Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has responded to the Supreme Court’s announcement regarding the 2023 presidential election dispute.

The apex court has scheduled the delivery of final judgments in petitions filed by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) for Thursday, October 26.

In a statement, the Director of Press and Information for the Supreme Court, Dr. Awemeri Festus Akande, confirmed the date for the ruling and assured that security arrangements were in place to maintain order both inside and outside the court premises.

Ben Bruce, using his X account, made an appeal to all political parties and their supporters.

He urged them to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court, emphasizing that the Supreme Court’s decisions are final when it comes to the 2023 election.

He also encouraged parties to put aside political conflicts, come together, and focus on the urgent task of reviving the economy, particularly addressing issues such as the state of the Naira and the aftermath of the previous administration under Muhammadu Buhari.

Ben Bruce further stressed that the time for governance must begin promptly, and Nigerians should no longer be divided in opposition to each other.

Instead, they should unite against pressing challenges like insecurity, criminality, economic difficulties, and disunity.

In his own words, “Whatever the judgment of the Supreme Court tomorrow, I hope that all parties to the election and the appeal accept it because the Supreme Court is final.

After tomorrow, there must be no more political rancor.

We should all unite and face the task of rescuing the economy, especially the Naira and undoing the damage the previous administration did. We cannot be in election mode forever.

Governing mode must now begin in earnest. We can resume partisanship in four years.

From tomorrow, our squabbles must no longer be with each other but against insecurity, criminality, economic hardship, and disunity.”

Ben Bruce’s call for unity and acceptance of the Supreme Court’s verdict regarding the 2023 presidential election is an important message for political parties and their supporters in Nigeria.

It emphasizes the need for a peaceful transition and a focus on addressing the nation’s pressing challenges.

As the ruling date approaches, this appeal encourages political maturity and the prioritization of the country’s well-being over partisan conflicts.
