The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four men over separate allegations of defilement and sexual exploitation involving three girls aged 10, 11 and 12, as well as a 20-year-old woman with a mental health condition.

The incidents were reported in Ningi, Katagum, Shira and Bauchi metropolis, with the alleged offences involving victims who were reportedly lured to different locations.

In a statement issued on Sunday, October 11, 2026, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, confirmed the arrests and said the cases had been referred for further investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the alleged offences and ordered that the cases be handled thoroughly, with a view to prosecuting the suspects if the allegations are established.

50-Year-Old Man Arrested Over Alleged Defilement of 10-Year-Old Girl

The first case was reported on October 9 by a resident of Gadar Maiwa Village in Ningi Local Government Area.

According to the police, the complainant alleged that his neighbour, 50-year-old Musa Ibrahim, also known as Musa Fawa, had taken his 10-year-old daughter to a guinea corn farm behind their homes, where the girl was allegedly sexually assaulted.

Habib said the child was taken to General Hospital, Ningi, for a medical examination, which reportedly confirmed sexual assault.

Police subsequently arrested Ibrahim, who, according to the statement, confessed to the alleged offence.

The command said the case would undergo further investigation as part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Azare Man Accused of Abusing 11-Year-Old Schoolgirl

Another complaint was lodged on October 9 by a father from Unguwar Makafi in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area.

The complainant alleged that 20-year-old Yakubu Musa, a resident of Layin Da’u Mai Itace in Azare, had lured his 11-year-old daughter into an empty classroom at Bakoshi Primary School.

According to the police statement, the alleged incidents occurred on separate occasions in September and October 2026.

The girl was taken to General Hospital, Azare, for a medical examination, while the suspect was arrested.

Habib said the suspect had confessed to the alleged offence, although the case remains subject to further investigation and legal proceedings.

Shira Resident Accused of Luring 12-Year-Old Girl With Money

In a separate incident, police received a report on October 8 from a resident of Dago Village in Shira Local Government Area.

The complaint accused 40-year-old Abdullahi Sule of having sexual intercourse with his 12-year-old daughter.

Police investigations reportedly indicated that the suspect had allegedly lured the girl on approximately four occasions, giving her N500 each time.

Habib said the child had been rescued and taken for medical care, while Sule was arrested.

The police did not provide further details about the victim’s condition but confirmed that the matter was among the cases being handled by the command.

55-Year-Old Man Arrested Over Alleged Exploitation of Vulnerable Woman

The fourth case involved a 20-year-old woman with a mental health condition and was reported by her parents on October 10.

According to Habib, the couple alleged that 55-year-old John Madaki had given their daughter N1,000 before having sexual intercourse with her.

Police arrested Madaki following the complaint, while the woman was taken to the Police Clinic in Bauchi for a medical examination.

The case raises concerns about the potential exploitation of vulnerable individuals, particularly where a person’s circumstances may affect their ability to protect themselves or give valid consent.

The police said the matter would be investigated alongside the other reported incidents.

Bauchi Police Commissioner Orders Further Investigation

Reacting to the allegations, Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu described the reported acts as abominable and inhuman.

He directed the immediate transfer of all four cases to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.

The move is intended to ensure that investigators examine the evidence, establish the facts and prepare the cases for possible prosecution in accordance with the law.

The command did not announce a trial date or provide further information about when the investigations would be concluded.

Police Reaffirm Zero Tolerance for Sexual and Gender-Based Violence

The Bauchi State Police Command reiterated its commitment to combating sexual and gender-based violence, particularly crimes involving children and other vulnerable people.

Habib said the command maintained a zero-tolerance policy towards such offences and assured residents that the cases would receive the necessary attention.

“The command assures the public that justice will be served,” the police spokesman said.

The four arrests follow allegations involving victims across different parts of Bauchi State. The police said investigations were continuing, with the suspects facing further legal action if sufficient evidence is established.
