An adult entertainment show held at Banbury United’s clubhouse has prompted a public apology from the Oxfordshire football club after videos circulating online showed parts of the performance escalating beyond what the club said was acceptable for the venue.
The 18+ event, part of the UK Pleasure Boys’ “Wet & Wild” nationwide tour, took place at The Spencer Clubhouse on Saturday and has since drawn widespread attention on social media.
Club Responds After Videos Go Viral
Banbury United issued a statement on Tuesday acknowledging the footage and apologising to attendees who found the performance offensive.
The club said it was aware of videos from the event and stated that the scenes shown towards the end of the performance exceeded what it considered appropriate for the venue.
It confirmed the show was organised by an external promoter as part of a UK-wide tour and announced it would review the incident while updating its venue hire and conduct policies for future performance events.
Performance Featured Audience Participation
Videos shared online showed performers wearing cowboy hats dancing and stripping on stage before moving into the audience, where some acts appeared to simulate sexual activity with members of the crowd.
The Spencer Clubhouse, located at Banbury United’s TUGO Community Stadium, is regularly used for weddings, birthday celebrations and corporate functions.
The Southern Premier League club promotes the venue as a community-focused space for private events, making the nature of the performance a surprise for some attendees.
Mixed Reactions From Those Who Attended
The incident sparked extensive discussion among Banbury residents online, with attendees offering differing views on what took place.
One person said they had expected a “Full Monty”-style strip show rather than what they described as a much more explicit performance.
They added that they had been enjoying the evening until they felt it went too far.
Others argued that the promotional material had made clear the event would feature male strippers and said attendees knew what they were purchasing tickets for.
Several people defended the show, noting that everyone present was over 18 and saying those who were uncomfortable could have left.
Another commenter described what they had seen online as sounding like a strip show that became far more extreme than expected.
Performer Continues UK Tour
The UK Pleasure Boys have been touring across Britain for several months and still have multiple performances scheduled, beginning with a show in Birmingham later this week.
The production is advertised as a two-hour-and-45-minute male revue featuring high-energy entertainment, with standard tickets priced at £16.50 and VIP front-row seats available for £27.50.
Despite the show’s ongoing national tour, Banbury United said the performance at its clubhouse had crossed the line for its venue and confirmed it would revise its booking conditions following the incident.
