In Ashgabat, the British Ambassador gives a speech on gender equality to the young of central Asia.
Ms. Lucia Wilde, His Majesty’s Ambassador, and Ms. Jessie Kirk, Social Development Adviser at the FCDO and a specialist on gender problems, presented the interactive lecture on “Gender in the context of conflict and peacebuilding.”
Students from the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) and graduates from around central Asia attended the Preventive Diplomacy Academy. There were also young SDG Ambassadors from Turkmenistan in the crowd.
The Ambassador emphasized the necessity of female role models. Jessie discussed the measures governments can use to advance gender equality. In addition, students presented incisive and engaging lectures on their gender-related research in Central Asia.
