AmaZulu Sign Troubled Orlando Pirates Midfielder Ben Motshwari on One-Year Deal

AmaZulu Football Club has made an official announcement regarding the completion of a significant signing, securing the services of a midfielder who previously experienced a challenging season at Orlando Pirates.

This announcement came to light on Monday, with Usuthu confirming the acquisition of Ben Motshwari on a one-year contract, his move being facilitated from Pirates.

Notably, the club has also outlined an option to extend Motshwari’s contract beyond its initial one-year term when it concludes at the end of the season.

Motshwari’s Turbulent Departure from Orlando Pirates

It is worth noting that Ben Motshwari’s departure from Orlando Pirates was marked by significant turbulence following an unfortunate incident in September 2021.

The then 32-year-old midfielder found himself embroiled in a legal matter, having been arrested on allegations of assault.

This led to his suspension by the club, casting a shadow over his professional career.

Subsequently, Motshwari’s suspension was lifted as the case against him was dismissed by the Randfontein Magistrates Court.

However, despite returning to the squad, the once robust and tenacious midfielder struggled to regain his form on the pitch and often found himself relegated to a mere spectator’s role at Pirates.

A New Beginning at AmaZulu

With his move to AmaZulu, Ben Motshwari now seeks to revitalize his career under the guidance of coach Pablo Franco Martin.

The hope is to recapture the prowess and influence he once held in the midfield, with the ambition of earning a fresh contract for the following season.

This new chapter represents an opportunity for Motshwari to put the challenges of the past behind him and embark on a journey of resurgence with his new club.
