Detectives are looking into how a driver on Sunday night’s Aurora Avenue North hit and killed a pedestrian.
Numerous 911 callers reported a pedestrian collision just before 10:00 p.m. it happened around North 141st Street and Aurora Avenue North.
A 71-year-old woman was struck by an 80-year-old woman travelling north in an SUV as she crossed Aurora at a place not intended for pedestrian crossing.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by Seattle Fire Department medical personnel.
While still on the scene, the driver called 911 to report the crash. She was assessed by an SPD officer who had undergone drug recognition training, and the officer found no evidence of impairment.
Police officers from SPD’s Traffic Collision Investigation Squad took pictures of the scene and are still investigating it.
