…By Larry John for TDPel Media. In the early hours of Saturday morning, a red Vauxhall Corsa crashed into a wall on Langley Road near Wolverhampton, leaving the car dangling over the edge of a bridge.
The dramatic scene was captured in pictures which show the hatchback precariously balanced with only two wheels touching the ground and a crumpled front.
Despite destroying the wall of the bridge, the car managed to stop short of falling into the canal below after both airbags deployed.
The incident prompted the police to seal off the road while specialist teams worked to recover the car, which was wedged in a dangerous position.
According to reports, both occupants of the car were uninjured in the crash. However, one of the passengers had to escape by diving into the canal.
Stephanie Hardman, the owner of a narrow boat that passed under the bridge, was taken aback when she saw the car dangling off the edge.
She spoke to a police officer on the scene who informed her that both occupants of the car were unharmed but that one of the passengers had to jump into the canal to escape.
