The viral videos that have taken over social media, allegedly showing bouncers at Pretoria’s Zanzou nightclub torturing patrons, have sparked major backlash.
The incident, which reportedly occurred after patrons were accused of stealing cell phones, has raised serious concerns about the nightclub’s practices.
In response, Zanzou has broken its silence and issued a public statement, revealing plans to take legal action against the bouncers involved.
Zanzou Condemns the Disturbing Videos
The disturbing footage circulating online shows bouncers allegedly forcing patrons into humiliating sexual acts, with some individuals seen naked and lining up.
Those who allegedly refused to comply faced violent repercussions.
The videos have shocked the public and led to widespread outrage, with many people calling for the immediate closure of the Pretoria-based nightclub.
Zanzou’s management quickly responded through an official statement, acknowledging the disturbing content.
They confirmed that they were aware of the incident and took immediate action once it came to their attention.
“We are deeply disturbed by the actions displayed in the videos and can assure the public that we have acted swiftly to address the situation,” the statement read.
Management Takes Action Against Bouncers
The nightclub’s management explained that as soon as the footage came to light, they launched an investigation into the bouncers’ actions.
The security personnel involved in the incident were immediately dismissed from their positions.
Zanzou also shared that, in line with their commitment to safety and security, they have now outsourced their security services to a licensed and compliant company that adheres strictly to South African laws.
“Our investigation into the matter resulted in the immediate termination of the security staff involved in these practices,” the statement continued.
“We are fully committed to maintaining a safe environment for our patrons.”
Legal Action on the Horizon for Security Personnel
Zanzou also mentioned considering legal action against the former bouncers, particularly a security employee named Mr. Herve. According to the statement, Mr. Herve attempted to extort the business by withholding the videos in exchange for financial demands.
The nightclub claimed that Mr. Herve fabricated a false narrative in an attempt to force a settlement, with no connection to any patrons failing to pay their bills.
Public Reaction to Zanzou’s Statement
Social media users have had mixed reactions to Zanzou’s statement.
Some feel that the incident was too severe and that the club should face consequences.
“The kids are humiliated for life; it must close down, each kid to get R250k,” commented one user.
Another wrote, “They must be shut down. This type of punishment is unacceptable.”
However, not everyone agrees with the sentiment that Zanzou should be shut down.
One user questioned whether the bouncers could have acted without the owner’s consent, suggesting that there may have been a deeper issue at play.
“I don’t think the bouncer would do something without the owner’s knowledge or consent,” the user wrote.
