Wife of the Governor of Anambra State and founder of the charity organization, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano has extended the joy of Christmas to Nteje Rehabilitation Centre and Model Community Children’s Home, in Awka.

The Governor’s wife, had on arrival gone round each of the units to ensure that they are functioning optimally and that the inhabitants are well cared for, and also made suggestions for refurbishment where necessary.

Correspondent Daniel Ezeigwe reports that while addressing the people, Dr Obiano said that she was at the homes to do what knows how to do best: always touching the lives of those in need, adding that she finds immense joy in lending a helping hand, especially to the poor.

She urged everyone to always remember to show some love to those at the homes, no matter how little, emphasizing that there is a joy of fulfillment that comes with unconditional charity.

The Transition Committee Chairman of Oyi Local Government Area, Dr Nnamdi Nwadiogbu, said that the governor’s wife has set a strong charity blueprint that history will always be kind to, and thanked her for always keeping tabs on the needy.

The Director of Model Community Children’s Home, Awka, Reverend Sister Philomena Akuchukwu, in her remarks, said that the governor’s wife has been instrumental to the upgrade and survival of the home, with her regular checks on the kids a major driving force to the growth of the children’s home, and prayed God to bless her.

The Nteje Rehabilitation Centre is a facility that caters for those with mental health challenges, while Community Children’s Home, Awka looks after orphaned and abandoned children.

Since its formal establishment in January, 2015, the Nteje Home has rehabilitated a total of one hundred and forty-two persons, with an eighty percent population representation of non-Anambra indigenes.

The rehabilitated persons were given household materials, foods, cash and equipment to start off any of the vocations they had learned while at the centre.

The governor’s wife was accompanied by her children, Dr Gechy and Master Chukwudifu Obiano, who presented Christmas gifts to the homes.
