Former Edo State governor and Senator Adams Oshiomhole has unequivocally declared the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) firm commitment to reclaiming Edo State from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming governorship election on September 21.

As the political landscape heats up, a total of 29 contenders are vying for the APC’s ticket, intensifying the competition within the party.
APC National Chairman’s Echo of Commitment:
APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje has echoed this commitment, urging stakeholders in Edo State to work diligently towards ensuring the party’s victory in the forthcoming governorship election.
Stakeholders Meeting Highlights:
During an extended stakeholders meeting at the APC’s national secretariat in Abuja, Oshiomhole and Ganduje expressed their views on the party’s strategy for the Edo State governorship election.
Oshiomhole’s Assertion on Edo’s Ownership:
Oshiomhole, now the party leader in Edo, conveyed to the National Working Committee (NWC) that both leaders and party members in the state are determined to reclaim Edo State.
He emphasized that Edo rightfully belongs to the APC, and efforts are underway to regain control.
Constructive Dialogues with Aspirants:
To ensure a peaceful primary process and secure victory in September, stakeholders in Edo are engaged in constructive dialogues with the 29 governorship aspirants.
Oshiomhole underscored the importance of fostering understanding among aspirants for the greater good of the party.
APC Chairman’s Emphasis on Internal Democracy:
In addressing the party’s delegates, APC Chairman Ganduje emphasized the need for enhancing internal democracy.
He stressed that this improvement is crucial for selecting a popular and widely accepted candidate as the party’s flag bearer in the primary election scheduled for February 17.

Ganduje urged the party to move towards adopting a guided democracy that discusses issues transparently, limiting the number of contestants.
He stressed the importance of understanding the party’s ideology, manifesto, and rules for a cohesive and effective political association.

Reassuring the party’s commitment, Ganduje confidently stated, “Edo is an APC state. Now we have to take Edo back.” He highlighted the urgency of securing Edo State in the September 2024 elections and the party’s determination to achieve this goal.
