Manchester City great Yaya Toure didn’t hold back when discussing Manchester United’s performance in Sunday’s Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium.

Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez both scored twice as Manchester City condemned their rivals to a humiliating 4-1 loss.

Toure, still only 38, played 316 matches for Manchester City, scoring 79 goals, and 118 matches (six goals) for Spanish giants Barcelona – among several other clubs – in an illustrious career.

He also has 97 caps (19 goals) for Ivory Coast.

‘Manchester United were a disgrace’ – Gary Neville

Former Manchester United full-back Gary Neville was also scathing in his assessment of their performance.

Sky Sports pundit Neville said: “Manchester United ended that game like an absolute shower. They were a disgrace.

“They came up against a proper team and they’ve been given a proper doing.”

Manchester City re-established a six-point lead at the top of the table over Liverpool and opened up a 22-point advantage over Manchester United, whose chances of just qualifying for the Champions League next season are fading fast.

Rangnick’s men now trail Arsenal, who also have three games in hand, by a point in fourth.

At the top of the table, Liverpool also have a game in hand to reduce Manchester City’s advantage to three points.
