Watch: Kaizer Chiefs’ Baxter and Parker show each other love

Kaizer Chiefs are the kings of Soweto this season. The club completed a double over Orlando Pirates after Saturday’s 2-1 win, with Parker delivering a top shift.

As The South African reported on Saturday, Amakhosi beat Bucs in enemy territory to keep the chase of Mamelodi Sundowns alive.

The victory came courtesy of a first-half goal beauty from Reeve Frosler and a towering Eric Mathoho header in the second-half – Pirates’ single goal came from Kwame Peprah.

Saturday’s win meant Kaizer Chiefs are now 16 points adrift DStv Premiership’s leader Sundowns, but with three games in hand.

For some reason, Kaizer Chiefs fans have been struggling to see Parker’s value in the team. It seemed the more Baxter picks Parker, the more fans on social media slam the decision.

The rejection dates back to Ernst Middendorp and Gavin Hunt’s times.

Nevertheless, the 35-year-old forward, known as “Die Hond” had a blinder of a game at Orlando Stadium and was duly awarded the Man of the Match gong.

In the special post-match MoM interview, Parker was joined by his Kaizer Chiefs coach Baxter. The Brit said the Boksburg-born star had his best ever game under him, while Parker added to say Baxter is like a father.

“Bernard Parker has played many games for me,” the coach began. “My first stint and second stint.”

“He hasn’t played many better than that, he was outstanding,” Baxter concluded.

Parker responded to say: “Thank you very much coach, your figure-father, your direction, always directing me to be a better man on and off the field.”
