Warwick Davis Sues London Hospital for Medical Negligence After Wife Samantha’s Death in March 2024

Warwick Davis, the actor famous for his role in the Harry Potter films, has filed a lawsuit against a London hospital, claiming medical negligence after the tragic death of his wife, Samantha, in March last year.

A Heartbreaking Loss and Legal Battle

Samantha Davis, aged 53, passed away on March 24, 2024.

She was also an actor, known for her appearances in the entertainment industry.

In the wake of her death, Warwick, aged 54, has instructed law firm Irwin Mitchell to investigate the circumstances surrounding her passing, seeking justice for what he believes was medical negligence.

Medical negligence solicitor Madeline Nugent is working with the family to uncover the details surrounding the care Samantha received during her treatment.

Inquest and Delayed Proceedings

An inquest into Samantha’s death is being conducted by Coroner Mrs. Jean Harkin.

The inquiry, which aims to explore the circumstances of her death, was scheduled to begin with Warwick and his daughter Annabelle participating remotely.

However, the hearing was postponed when Warwick experienced technical difficulties and could not maintain a stable connection to the proceedings.

William Chapman, counsel for the Davis family, informed the court that Warwick’s internet connection had kept “dropping out.”

He requested an adjournment to ensure that Warwick could fully participate in the process.

The Assistant Coroner agreed, noting that she would allocate a full day for the rescheduled hearing to ensure Warwick’s participation.

The Cause of Death and Hospital’s Role

The inquest, which will reconvene as soon as possible, is expected to investigate whether Samantha’s treatment at University College London Hospital for a spinal condition played a role in her untimely death.

Samantha had previously endured a severe sepsis infection in 2019, which required intensive care treatment following surgeries on her spine.

A Love Lost and Tributes Paid

Warwick Davis, who was married to Samantha for over 30 years, shared an emotional tribute following her death.

He described her as his “favourite human,” and expressed how her absence had left a “huge hole” in his life.

He praised Samantha’s sense of humor and her unwavering support throughout his career, calling her his “most trusted confidant.”

The couple’s children, Harrison and Annabelle, also paid tribute to their mother, describing her as their best friend and the person whose love had carried them through their lives.

Samantha, who had been diagnosed with achondroplasia (a bone growth disorder), had faced numerous health challenges throughout her life.

Her husband, also affected by a similar condition, Spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita, stood by her side through it all.

Their Shared Legacy and Contributions

The couple’s legacy extends beyond their personal lives, as they co-founded the charity Little People UK, aimed at supporting individuals with dwarfism.

Samantha’s acting career included roles in productions like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, where she appeared as a goblin, and the 1988 film Willow, where she met Warwick for the first time.

As Warwick Davis continues to grieve and seek justice for his late wife, the Davis family remains committed to ensuring that the truth about Samantha’s death is fully understood.
