Tom Brady’s growing presence outside football has fueled fresh debate about his long-term ambitions, with NFL analyst Mike Florio suggesting the seven-time Super Bowl champion could eventually pursue a career in politics.
The discussion emerged after reports that Brady has been in talks about making an appearance in WWE, following months of public exchanges and physical confrontations with YouTuber-turned-wrestler Logan Paul.
While many viewed the move as an unexpected career shift, Florio believes it may fit into a broader plan rather than being a simple publicity stunt.
WWE Interest Raises Questions About Brady’s Future
Speaking on NBC, Florio said there are two possible explanations for Brady’s increasing involvement in high-profile entertainment ventures.
One possibility, he argued, is that the retired quarterback is embracing new challenges and maintaining his public profile after leaving the NFL.
The alternative, however, is that Brady could be carefully expanding his appeal to different audiences as part of a longer-term political strategy.
Florio questioned whether connecting with wrestling fans and continuing to build his brand could eventually support a campaign for public office.
Political Ambitions Have Been Discussed Before
According to Florio, speculation surrounding Brady entering politics is not new.
He pointed to previous reports indicating that former cryptocurrency executive Sam Bankman-Fried encouraged Brady to consider running for president.
Reports published in early 2024 claimed Bankman-Fried privately discussed the idea of Brady seeking the Republican presidential nomination, believing the former quarterback could emerge as a stronger candidate than Donald Trump.
The conversations reportedly dated back to 2022, when efforts were allegedly made to determine whether Brady would entertain such a move.
FTX Connection Remains Part of Brady’s Public Record
Brady’s association with Bankman-Fried came through cryptocurrency exchange FTX, where the former NFL star served as a brand ambassador and promoter.
Following FTX’s collapse, Bankman-Fried was convicted of fraud and sentenced in March 2024 to 25 years in prison.
Brady, like several celebrity endorsers, saw the value of his FTX-related holdings disappear as the company imploded.
Florio remarked that Brady has largely avoided lasting reputational damage from the failed partnership despite his involvement with the company before its collapse.
Expanding Business Empire Since Retirement
Since retiring from professional football in 2023, Brady has steadily expanded his business interests.
In addition to serving as FOX Sports’ lead NFL analyst under a reported 10-year, $375 million contract, he is also a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.
His commercial portfolio has grown significantly, with endorsement agreements spanning major consumer brands, further strengthening his profile beyond sports.
Personal Life Continues to Draw Attention
Brady’s life away from football has remained a frequent subject of media attention.
He has been single since his 2022 divorce from Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen, ending a 13-year marriage during which they had two children.
Earlier this year, Brady was also linked to social media personality Alix Earle after the pair were seen together at New Year’s Eve celebrations and later at Super Bowl-related events.
Florio Believes Politics Could Become Brady’s Next Major Stage
While emphasizing that his comments were speculative, Florio argued that Brady possesses several qualities that could make him a viable political candidate, including global name recognition, business experience, leadership credentials and decades in the public eye.
He also joked that a successful presidential campaign might finally narrow Brady’s wide-ranging list of professional commitments, suggesting that serving as president would leave little room for his growing collection of business ventures and entertainment appearances.
At present, Brady has given no indication that he intends to seek elected office, and there is no evidence that he is preparing a political campaign.
However, Florio’s remarks have reignited discussion over whether one of the NFL’s greatest players could eventually pursue a role far beyond the football field.
