Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, returned to his home state, Borno State, on Wednesday to join in the Sallah celebrations with his relatives and prominent individuals from the state.
After observing the Eid prayers in Abuja, Shettima traveled to Borno where he was warmly received by Governor Babagana Zulum.
Inspection of Guard of Honour
Upon his arrival in Borno, Vice President Shettima inspected a Guard of Honour formed by the Nigerian Air Force at the Maiduguri Air Force Base.
This ceremonial display showcased the respect and honor accorded to the Vice President.
Courtesy Visit to the Shehu of Borno
Vice President Shettima paid a courtesy visit to the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Garbai El-Amin Sl-Kanemi, at his palace.
During the meeting, the monarch discussed pressing issues related to societal challenges, particularly the infrastructural deficit.
Shettima assured the Shehu that the government would address these concerns and emphasized the resilience of the Nigerian people in overcoming challenges.
Support and Promises from the Vice President
Vice President Shettima conveyed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s best wishes to the Shehu of Borno.
He assured the monarch of the maximum support from President Tinubu’s administration.
The Vice President acknowledged the importance of addressing immediate road infrastructural needs, such as the Gamboru Ngala, Dikwa, and Damboa roads.
Sallah Prayers in Abuja and Message of Unity
During the Eid prayers in Abuja, Vice President Shettima prayed for healing and unity for Nigeria and Nigerians.
He urged the citizens to come together and be united in overcoming challenges.
Shettima emphasized the virtues of sacrifice and forgiveness, which are central to the Sallah season.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, were among the dignitaries present at the Eid ground in Abuja.
They joined Vice President Shettima and other faithful in observing the prayers and embracing the spirit of the occasion.
