Two individuals have been apprehended under suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a tragic incident involving a police pursuit and a subsequent collision between two vehicles.
The pursuit was initiated by Norfolk Police as they were investigating the alleged theft of a vehicle in Suffolk.
The vehicle being pursued was a Land Rover Defender.
Tragically, during the course of the pursuit, this Land Rover Defender collided with a Nissan Juke on the A143 near Old Harleston Road, Earsham, Norfolk.
The collision occurred shortly after 4.30pm on a Sunday.
Regrettably, the collision resulted in the loss of life for one person who was in the Nissan Juke at the time of the crash, as confirmed by the police.
The two occupants of the Land Rover, both men in their 20s and 40s, were arrested in connection with the incident.
They were taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Additionally, both of these individuals received medical treatment for injuries they sustained during the collision.
In accordance with standard procedure, the Independent Office for Police Conduct has been informed about the incident.
This independent body will now conduct its own investigation into the circumstances surrounding the pursuit and collision.
