The VIP fundraising gala event was hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and although it is aimed at raising funds for the art gallery, it is famously known for its fashion extravaganza.
Describing himself as a “lover of fashion”, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO stepped out with his supermodel mother, Maye, and pulled some funny — or rather awkward — poses before sharing some of his plans for Twitter.
Maye was born in Canada but moved to Pretoria at the age of two, qualified as a dietician, and has also modelled for the best part of 50 years.

ELON MUSK REVELS IN THE ATTENTION
This year’s Met Gala, under the Gilded Glamour theme, saw Musk rocking a classic black and white tuxedo. His supermodel mother, Maye, wore a Dior Haute Couture burgundy velvet dress, a mini lady Dior handbag and Dior pearl jewellery.
The 50-year-old billionaire pulled some funny faces as he posed for the cameras on the red carpet – obviously enjoying the reception.
When asked about his fashion, he said: “Just following the dress code”.
He also spoke about his love for fashion when asked what’s one thing he’d tweet about the event.
“Sometimes this view is frivolous and not that important, but I think beauty is very important.. and style and things that move the heart. So, I like to walk around during the dinner and admire the anazing ojtfits and the incredible fashion sense.

PLANS FOR TWITTER
The new Twitter boss was also asked by actress and presenter La La Anthony about his vision for the social media platform after acquiring it for $44 billion (R701 billion) about a week ago.
“My goal, assuming everything gets done, is to make Twitter as inclusive as possible and to have as broad a swathe of people on Twitter as possible,” Musk said.
“And that it is entertaining and funny and they have as much fun as possible,” he added.
Before sealing the Twitter deal, Musk engaged with Twitter users on the app, conducting surveys about the edit button and other app features.
