Tragic news for the metal world. Trevor Strnad, vocalist and co-founder of the Michigan band, The Black Dahlia Murder, passed away today at the age of 41. Said information was shared by his colleagues through social networks.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Trevor Scott Strnad. Beloved son, brother and Pastor of good times, he was loved by all who knew him. A walking encyclopedia of everything about music. He was a hugger, a writer and one of the world’s greatest entertainers. His lyrics filled the world with stories, spells, horror and fantasy. His life was to be your show,” the publication mentions, accompanied by a black image.
The cause of his death is unknown
Although the reason for his death has not been made explicit, at the end of the post there is a suicide prevention helpline, because everything points to the fact that the vocalist has taken his own life.

The Black Dahlia Murder, one of the pillars of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal
Born in 2001, The Black Dahlia Murder reaped success throughout their two decades of existence. After adopting the name because of the infamous murder of Elizabeth Short in 1947, the band released a first demo titled thanks to another reference: a phrase from Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest. That screen that threatened the coming of darkness, What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse.
They immediately positioned themselves as one of the most important American melodic death metal bands thanks to albums like Nocturnal, Deflorate and the excellent Ritual, material that reached number 31 on Billboard and whose lyrics evoked different incantations. Their last album was Verminous, released in 2020.
