The Voice SA season 2 winner mourns the death of brother and sister-in-law

The Voice SA season 2 winner Craig Lucas and his family were mourning the death of his brother Warren and sister-in-law, Arlene Lucas.

This comes after the couple was shot and killed by a 15-year-old boy in Sharon Crescent, Protea Heights, Brackenfell, on Sunday evening.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg, police are investigating a double murder case.

“The circumstances surrounding a shooting incident last night at about 18:00 in Sharon Crescent, Protea Heights, Brackenfell, where a 37-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were shot and fatally wounded, are under investigation,” Twigg said.

He furthermore said police arrived at the crime scene and found the couple with gunshot wounds to their bodies.

Warren and Arlene were both declared dead on the scene by paramedics.

Twigg said a 15-year-old boy was arrested and will be evaluated on Monday.

The family spokesperson Bridgette Brukman has asked that the family’s privacy be respected as they deal with the deaths of Warren and Arlene.

According to a report by IOL, Craig and Warren were raised by their mother, Jennifer, in Elsies River (Cape Town).

Craig’s father died when he was three. Warren has an international qualification in welding, and singer Craig has an honours degree in finance.

“My mother has been amazing. She is one of the most hardworking women I know. There was a time she kept three to four jobs to make sure we [Craig and Warren] had everything we needed,” Craig said during a previous interview.
