The Durban-based Hawks’ South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau is investigating suspected cocaine worth R111 million recovered at Durban Harbour

The Durban-based Hawks’ South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau is investigating the source or link to the recovery of a consignment of suspected cocaine in a vessel at Durban Harbour.

The Hawks team and SAPS Operational Response Services were warned about a suspicious consignment in a vessel that was ferrying vehicles on Saturday, June 18, 2022.

When the squad got at the location, they discovered 265 bricks of cocaine in canvas sacks.

The drugs are worth an estimated R111 million.

A preliminary examination revealed that the shipment’s owner could not be identified.

An ongoing investigation led to the seizure of the drugs.

At this time, no arrests have been made.
