During a family tour in New York City, two teenage girls, aged 14 and 16, hailing from South America, faced a terrifying assault while having an early lunch in Grand Central Terminal’s dining concourse on Christmas Day.
The attack occurred around 11:25 am and left the girls injured and in need of immediate medical attention.
Assailant’s Racist Utterance:
The perpetrator, identified as 36-year-old Steven Hutcherson from the Bronx, allegedly expressed violent sentiments, stating “I want all the white people dead” before targeting the innocent teenagers.
Reports suggest an altercation arose when Hutcherson was denied seating at Tartinery and objected to the girls being permitted to sit in the restaurant.
Unprovoked Stabbing Incident:
Hutcherson’s discontent about the seating arrangement escalated into a disturbing act of violence as he brandished a knife and attacked the teenage visitors.
Swift action by MTA police led to Hutcherson’s arrest within minutes of the incident. The assault left one girl stabbed in the thigh and the other with a back wound, slightly affecting her lung.
