Teen seriously injured after ‘machete attack’ by tube station as police look for ‘hooded teens’

A youth was attacked with machetes outside a London tube station last night.

Police sealed off the area around Leytonstone Underground station and are believed to be searching for three attackers.

One witness said he saw three youths running away wearing hoods and one was ‘aged about 14.’

Police, who administered CPR, have said his condition was serious but not life threatening after he was airlifted to an east London hospital by an air ambulance.

Leytonstone tube station was shut down as police sniffer dogs were brought into search for any discarded weapon – but has now reopened.

All roads around Church Lane, Leytonstone were closed as dozens of police investigated.

A spokesperson for Met police said: ‘Police were called by LAS at 19:04hrs on Sunday, 8 May to Church Lane E11 following reports of a stabbing.

‘A 19-year-old man was found with stab wounds.

‘Officers administered CPR before he was taken to an east London hospital. His condition has been assessed as not life-threatening.

‘There have been no arrests at this time.

‘A crime scene is in place and enquiries are ongoing.’
