South Africa has recorded 212 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 3 992 661

The number of laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa has increased by 212 over the past 24 hours, totaling 3 992 661 cases.

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) figures indicate that this increase translates to a positive rate of 3.4 percent.

With 43% of all new cases, Gauteng leads the way, followed by the Western Cape with 19%.

KwaZulu-Natal accounted for 18 percent of the cases, followed by Mpumalanga with 6 percent, North West with 5 percent, Eastern Cape with 4 percent, Northern Cape with 3 percent, Limpopo with 2 percent, and Free State with 0 percent.

“Today’s ratio of new positive cases to all new tests is 3.4 percent, which is lower than yesterday’s ratio of 5.7 percent. The seven-day average is 5.9 percent today, down from 6.0 percent yesterday, according to the NICD.

Nine deaths were recorded by the National Department of Health (NDoH), four of which took place in the previous 24 to 48 hours. To date, there have been 101,740 fatalities.

The NDoH reported an increase of nine hospital admissions over the previous 24 hours in terms of hospital admissions.

As of right now, there have been 3 877 949 recoveries, with a recovery rate of 97.1%.

Both the public and commercial sectors have undertaken a total of 25 698 459 tests.

Up to this point, South Africa has given out 36 780 463 different vaccines.
