A harrowing road rage incident took place on January 3, 2025, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, when Gladior Kwesiah, 26, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, brutally body-slammed a mother-of-two, Hailea Soares, 31, of Somerset, after a minor car accident.
The altercation, which unfolded at an intersection around 9 a.m., left Soares severely injured and in need of immediate medical attention.
The Road Rage Incident
The incident began when Soares accidentally bumped into Kwesiah’s car from behind.
What should have been a minor fender-bender quickly escalated when Kwesiah exited his vehicle, angrily banging on Soares’ roof.
According to reports, he then allegedly dragged Soares out of her car.
Dashcam footage captured the shocking moment when Kwesiah lifted Soares off the ground and slammed her head-first into the pavement.
In an interview with WSAZ, Soares described the terrifying moment, saying, “By the time I realized I was in the air…I thought to myself: ‘I might die right now.'”
She recalled the strange sensation on her face as she hit the ground and later realized she was bleeding from a head wound.
Authorities found Soares lying on the road, her head injured, and she was quickly transported to the hospital.
The Aftermath and Arrest
Soares, who is a single mother of two young children, struggled with the physical and emotional aftermath of the attack.
She described Kwesiah’s behavior as “very focused, very driven,” even though she hadn’t said anything provocative to provoke such violence.
“I didn’t even say anything violent to him,” Soares told WPRI.
“I don’t know if he was having a bad day or what, but if that’s the type of person he is, I don’t think he belongs in society with the rest of us.”
Kwesiah was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, vandalism, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
His bail was set at $2,500.
Soares’ Struggle to Recover
In the wake of the assault, Soares has been left physically debilitated.
She shared her fears with reporters, saying, “All I could think was: ‘I’m probably not going to be able to walk again.'”
Her injuries include a broken knee, a broken foot, damage to her eye socket, and a serious skull injury.
The single mother is now unable to care for her young children, ages one and eight, and faces a long road to recovery.
Community Support and Fundraising Efforts
Despite the immense challenges ahead, Soares remains grateful to be alive and reunited with her children.
A family friend, Bianca Lynn, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help Soares recover from her injuries and support her children.
The fundraiser, which has already raised over $34,500 of its $40,000 goal, highlights the severe physical, emotional, and financial toll the attack has taken on Soares and her family.
Bianca Lynn described Hailea as “a loving mother and a fighter who has always been there for others in their time of need.”
Soares is expected to be out of work for several months as she heals, and the community continues to rally behind her as she navigates this challenging time.
