Nigerian Air Force Strikes Against Bandits in Zamfara State

The Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) has taken decisive action against a significant group of bandits through targeted airstrikes in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The operation aimed to disrupt the bandits’ plans for cross-border attacks in neighboring Kebbi State, safeguarding vulnerable communities in the region.

Bandit Retreat in the Face of Military Presence

According to reliable sources, a large number of bandits were observed on Tuesday as they made their way from a forest in Zamfara State towards Kebbi State with the intent of launching attacks on villages in the area.

However, upon detecting the presence of Nigerian military troops along their intended route, the bandits decided to retreat, retreating back to the Dansadau axis of the Maru Local Government Area.

Swift and Effective Airstrikes by Nigerian Air Force

In response to the bandits’ retreat, the Nigerian Air Force initiated a series of airstrikes to target and neutralize the terrorist group.

The airstrikes were highly effective, resulting in the reported elimination of no fewer than a hundred bandits.

The terrorists’ motorcycles were also destroyed in the operation, with several other bandits sustaining various degrees of injuries.

Burial of Deceased Bandits The deceased bandits were reportedly interred in the Sangeko forest in Niger State and Babban Doka in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State. These locations were chosen for the burial of the eliminated terrorists.

Casualty Count Uncertain

As of the time of reporting, the exact number of casualties remains undetermined.

Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, the spokesperson for Operation Hadarin Daji, stated that the count of casualties is yet to be confirmed.

Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, affirmed the airstrikes but was unable to provide precise casualty figures.

The operation’s primary focus was on neutralizing the bandit threat and enhancing security in the region.
