Sabrina Carpenter has made waves with a fiery new remix video for her song “Please Please Please,” featuring none other than country legend Dolly Parton.
This track, which was originally released as a solo song by Sabrina, now has a fresh, rebellious twist.
The remix dropped on Thursday night, and it’s clear that Carpenter isn’t shy about airing her feelings following her split from actor Barry Keoghan.
In the updated video, Sabrina channels her inner Thelma & Louise, pairing up with Dolly for an unforgettable adventure.
As the two women flee from the police in a car, the video takes a dramatic turn toward the dark side, revealing a man bound and gagged in the back of the vehicle.
To add to the drama, he’s wearing the exact same outfit Barry Keoghan sported in the original video.
A Bold Statement with a Dark Twist
The lyrics of “Please Please Please” reflect Sabrina’s heartbreak and frustration, begging her ex not to “bring her to tears” and cautioning him about the “devil inside” him.
The video plays out a cinematic plot inspired by the classic film Thelma & Louise, with the 25-year-old singer alongside the 79-year-old country icon.
Carpenter has called Dolly one of her “biggest idols,” and the collaboration is a moment she cherishes deeply.
On Instagram, Sabrina shared her excitement about the song’s release, writing, “Dolly and me singing in a pickup truck!!!!!! I am so honored to have one of my biggest idols on a song that means so much to me.”
This new rendition of “Please Please Please” is part of the deluxe edition of Sabrina’s Short n’ Sweet album, which also includes other new tracks that showcase her evolving sound.
Glammed Up Getaway in a Vintage-Inspired Video
The video for the remix is shot in stylish black and white, and the plot has Sabrina and Dolly pulling off a high-stakes escape after kidnapping one of Sabrina’s exes.
The pair look glamorous as they race to evade the police.
Sabrina dons Dolly-inspired blonde curls and delicate lace gloves as she drives the truck, while Dolly herself rocks a sparkling sequin sweater, crystal-covered sunglasses, and fingerless gloves.
In one standout scene, the duo stares at their captured ex in the back of the truck.
Sabrina changes outfits, this time wearing a ruffled gingham-print bathing suit and heels as she sings alongside Dolly.
At another point, Dolly helps Sabrina light a cigarette in the back of the truck as they relax in their newfound “crime spree” roles.
A Run-in with the Law and a Stylish Escape
Things get tense when the police start closing in on the two women.
As they spot cop lights in their rearview mirror, the chase intensifies.
But Dolly, ever the pro, takes over the wheel, and the two women floor it to avoid capture.
The scene ends with the sound of Sabrina’s ex screaming and banging in the background, while the duo celebrates their getaway.
The deluxe version of Short n’ Sweet was made available for purchase and download at midnight on Valentine’s Day, featuring not just the new remix but a handful of fresh tracks.
Some of these new songs include “15 Minutes,” “Bad Reviews,” “Couldn’t Make it Any Harder,” and “Busy Woman.” Sabrina has certainly been busy.
