Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize ‘wasn’t even attracted to soccer’ before she became involved in football as a club owner a few years ago.
According to MaMkhize, the love and passion she now have for football are because of her son Andile Mpisane whom she bought Royal AM for.
MaMkhize said as parents, they used to take the young Mpisane to FIFA World Cup games as he was so passionate about football.
“I wasn’t even attracted to soccer. I think it comes from the support that I have for my kid because Andile has always been in love with soccer. He is the one we used to take to World Cup games and all those things,” MaMkhize told Sowetan.
MaMkhize further revealed the reason Mpisane is no longer focusing on being a player but an administrator, saying they decided to give him the chairmanship role at Royal AM because they wanted to prepare him for life after football.
In her own words, MaMkhize said they considered things such as injuries or Mpisane leaving Royal AM to go and play abroad before making the decision for him to stop playing.

And what if he leaves us to go and play abroad?
“It started there, not understanding that this thing is going to be so addictive. Soccer is addictive — the more you get into it, you fall in love with it,” added MaMkhize.
