After the state government decides on a location for the state capital, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that it will pursue the topic of opening an office in Andhra Pradesh.
Following the division of the joint RBI office in Hyderabad, this action is in response to a request to open an office in Andhra Pradesh.
M.K. Subhashree, RBI’s Deputy General Manager, wrote to Amaravati Development Authority Chairman Jasti Veeranjaneyulu, saying that the matter of opening an RBI office in the newly formed Andhra Pradesh state can only be pursued once the state government has decided on a location for its capital city.
Referring to ADA Chairman’s grievance about currency chests for storage of cash, the RBI official informed that there are 104 currency chests in the state.
