Labour has climbed to a four-point lead over the Conservatives in the latest YouGov voting intention poll, with the party gaining three percentage points in a week.

The survey puts Labour on 27 per cent, compared with the Conservatives on 23 per cent.

The figures leave Reform UK in third place with 22 per cent, despite a one-point increase in its support since the previous poll.

The Liberal Democrats and the Greens have both recorded declines, falling by one percentage point to 11 per cent and 10 per cent respectively.

Green Party Records Lowest Support Since September 2025

The Green Party’s latest polling figure marks its lowest level since September 2025, shortly after Zack Polanski became leader.

Its support has also fallen by 11 percentage points from its peak in March.

The decline comes as the party faces an internal and public controversy over its position on Zionism, including its stance that Zionism is racism.

Meanwhile, the Liberal Democrats have dropped to a joint-lowest voting intention share since the 2024 general election.

The figures come as questions increase over the position of party leader Ed Davey.

Burnham’s Rise Fuels General Election Speculation

Labour’s improved polling position since Andy Burnham replaced Keir Starmer as Prime Minister has prompted speculation about the possibility of an early general election.

Westminster figures are reportedly preparing for the possibility of a national vote in May next year, with some also considering December as a potential date.

However, the Prime Minister has maintained that he intends to wait until 2029.

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch said last month that Mr Burnham was a gambler who might believe he had a chance of success in a general election before Christmas.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has also raised the prospect of an earlier election, saying there was “every chance now of a general election happening in 2027”.

He has urged his party to ensure it is prepared.

Government Faces Challenging Budget

The latest polling comes ahead of next week’s Budget, which is expected to present a challenge for the Prime Minister and Chancellor John Healey as the Government deals with rising borrowing costs amid the crisis in the Middle East.

Mr Healey has acknowledged that the country is in a “tough” position ahead of his first fiscal package.

An increase in the rate of tax banks pay on their profits is expected to be the Budget’s largest revenue-raising measure.

The additional revenue is anticipated to help fund cost-of-living support for households and businesses.

YouGov Survey Questioned 2,520 Adults

The latest voting intention figures were compiled by YouGov following interviews with 2,520 adults between October 18 and 19.

The results show Labour gaining ground while the Conservatives remain ahead of Reform UK, with both the Liberal Democrats and Greens recording lower support than in the previous week’s survey.
