This decision was confirmed by Gavi in a statement released on Monday.

As a result, Gavi’s Chief Operating Officer, David Marlow, will serve as the Interim Chief Executive Officer while the search for a new CEO continues.

The statement released by Gavi did not provide further details regarding the reasons behind Professor Pate’s decision.

However, on social media platform Twitter, many Nigerians began speculating that President Bola Tinubu might appoint Professor Pate as the Minister of Health, although no official confirmation or statement has been made by any parties involved.

These rumors have been circulating since the news of Professor Pate’s resignation surfaced on Monday.
