A Special Anniversary Tribute
To commemorate her fifth wedding anniversary with Jack Brooksbank, Princess Eugenie shared an endearing family portrait on her Instagram account.
The late Queen Elizabeth II’s granddaughter celebrated the occasion by posting a beautiful wedding video capturing significant moments from her big day in 2018.
A Cherished Snapshot
Within this anniversary tribute, the first public image of the family-of-four together was unveiled.
The photo featured Princess Eugenie, her husband Jack Brooksbank, and their two children: two-year-old son August and four-month-old son Ernest.
The family was captured in a candid moment on a beach, radiating joy and love.
Eugenie’s Heartfelt Caption
Eugenie captioned the post with a simple yet heartfelt message: ‘5 years ago today.. ❤️❤️.’ The wedding video was thoughtfully set to the music of “You’ve Got the Love” by Florence and the Machine.
Recalling the Wedding Day
The video began with a countdown from five and transitioned to significant moments from the couple’s wedding day, which took place at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor on October 12, 2018.
It included glimpses of the chapel, the Royal Standard waving in the breeze, the Rolls-Royce that transported the bride and her father, and the horse-drawn carriage that Eugenie and Jack rode in after the ceremony.
Eugenie’s Bridal Attire
The video showcased Princess Eugenie’s exquisite wedding dress, designed by London duo Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos.
The gown featured an open back, folded shoulders, and a voluminous train.
Notably, it included embroidered symbols with personal significance to Eugenie, such as a thistle, shamrock, and the York Rose.
Symbol of Resilience
Eugenie’s choice of a low back in her wedding dress allowed her to proudly display a scar from spinal surgery she underwent at the age of 12 to correct scoliosis.
The scar became a symbol of her resilience and her commitment to raising awareness of the condition.
The Tiara and Earrings
During the video, the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, adorned with brilliant and rose-cut diamonds pavé-set in platinum, was shown being placed on Eugenie’s head.
Additionally, she wore matching diamond and emerald drop earrings, which were a wedding gift from her husband, Jack.
A Day of Tradition and Personal Touches
Eugenie arrived at the chapel in a 1977 Rolls-Royce Phantom VI, mirroring the car choice of other royal brides, including Kate Middleton.
Her bridal party included her older sister, Princess Beatrice, as the maid of honor and several other flower girls and pageboys.
The bridal party donned navy and ivory attire, with each flower girl and pageboy wearing a sash with a green floral print.
Wedding Rings and Emotions
During the ceremony, Jack placed a Welsh gold wedding ring, a gift from Queen Elizabeth, on Eugenie’s finger. He chose not to wear a wedding band, a decision also made by Prince William.
The wedding was an emotional occasion, with Jack expressing his devotion and Eugenie unable to hide her happiness.
An Unforgettable Reception
Following the wedding, there was a short carriage procession around Windsor, allowing the couple to greet well-wishers.
This was followed by a lunch hosted by Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle. In the evening, a black-tie reception was hosted by Prince Andrew at Royal Lodge, featuring gourmet pizza and margaritas.
Eugenie’s Second Gown
For the evening reception, Eugenie changed into a champagne-colored silk gown designed by Zac Posen. The gown featured a sweeping cape, long sleeves, and pleated fabric.
The gown was inspired by the White Rose of York and included embroidery of the White Rose.
The Extravagant Wedding Cake
The centerpiece of the reception was a magnificent five-tier wedding cake created by London-based baker Sophie Cabot.
The cake required a significant amount of ingredients, including 400 eggs, at least 53 packs of unsalted butter, 15 kilograms of organic self-raising flour, and 20 kilograms of sugar.
A Special Day Shared with Loved Ones
The wedding was a private affair, with the bride’s family covering the expenses, including the flowers, entertainment, and Eugenie’s dress.
However, the security costs for the day were estimated to be £2 million, funded by taxpayers.
A Memorable Celebration
Princess Eugenie’s anniversary tribute beautifully encapsulates the joy and significance of her wedding day, shared with her beloved family and friends.
It is a testament to love and the enduring memories of a special day in their lives.
