Apple TV+’s The Reluctant Traveller with Eugene Levy has earned two Primetime Emmy nominations, with the acclaimed travel series receiving recognition in the categories of Outstanding Writing for a Nonfiction Program and Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special.
The nominations follow widespread attention generated by Prince William’s unexpected appearance during the latest season, in which the Prince of Wales welcomed actor and host Eugene Levy to Windsor Castle.
The recognition comes as another royal-linked television project, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix lifestyle series With Love, Meghan, secured a nomination in the Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lifestyle Series.
Prince William’s Windsor Castle Conversation Drew Global Attention
One of the season’s most talked-about moments featured Eugene Levy spending time with Prince William at Windsor Castle.
The future king personally invited the Canadian actor for a private tour before the pair explored the castle grounds and later shared drinks in a local pub.
During their conversation, William reflected on the personal challenges his family faced, describing 2024 as “the hardest year” of his life while speaking about the illnesses that affected both King Charles and Catherine, Princess of Wales.
He also discussed balancing public duty with fatherhood and shared his thoughts on the future responsibilities of the monarchy.
The candid interview offered viewers an unusually personal glimpse into the Prince’s life, making it one of the standout episodes of the series.
Humour Balanced the Emotional Conversation
Despite touching on deeply personal topics, the episode also included several light-hearted moments.
William greeted Levy on an electric scooter before jokingly asking whether “getting drunk with Prince William” had been on the actor’s bucket list, prompting a humorous exchange between the pair.
Earlier in the programme, Levy was surprised to receive a formal invitation from the Prince on Kensington Palace stationery, inviting him to Windsor Castle for what was described as a private tour.
The playful setup became one of the memorable sequences of the episode before the conversation shifted to more serious themes.
Meghan Marks Daytime Emmy Recognition
While The Reluctant Traveller celebrated two Primetime Emmy nominations, Meghan’s With Love, Meghan received a single Daytime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Lifestyle Series category.
The Duchess shared the news on Instagram, congratulating the production team behind the Netflix series and celebrating the programme’s recognition.
The lifestyle show, which debuted in March 2025 alongside the launch of Meghan’s As Ever brand, featured cooking demonstrations, entertaining advice and home-inspired content filmed in a luxury California property near the Sussexes’ Montecito residence.
Mixed Reception for Netflix Lifestyle Series
Although the Emmy nomination represents industry recognition, With Love, Meghan received a mixed commercial and critical response following its release.
The programme reportedly struggled to attract large audiences and did not rank among Netflix’s 1,000 most-watched titles, despite later expanding with a second season and a Christmas special.
The nomination also comes years after Meghan reportedly declined an invitation to attend the Emmy Awards shortly after marrying Prince Harry, a decision that was widely viewed as marking her departure from Hollywood in favour of royal life.
Sussexes Continue Expanding Entertainment Portfolio
Following changes to her business ventures, Meghan has continued building her entertainment career.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain partnered with Netflix under a first-look agreement through Archewell Productions.
Among the projects announced is No Way Out: The Searing True Story of Men Under Siege, a film adaptation of Major Adam Jowett’s memoir recounting British soldiers’ experiences during intense fighting in Afghanistan’s Helmand Province in 2006.
The production adds to the Sussexes’ growing slate of film and television projects after stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
Meghan Set for MasterChef Australia Guest Appearance
Meghan’s television schedule will continue later this month with a guest appearance on MasterChef Australia.
The Duchess will challenge contestants to prepare a meal worthy of royal standards using seasonal ingredients including macadamia nuts, Australian honey, celeriac and a variety of fresh fruits.
Filmed during her recent visit to Australia with Prince Harry, the episode is scheduled to air on July 26.
Meghan said her enthusiasm for food and her affection for Australia made accepting the invitation an easy decision.
Different Emmy Journeys for Two Royal-Linked Productions
This year’s Emmy nominations have placed two productions connected to members of the Royal Family in the spotlight, albeit in different categories.
The Reluctant Traveller with Eugene Levy emerged with two Primetime Emmy nominations following Prince William’s widely praised guest appearance, while Meghan’s With Love, Meghan secured recognition in the Daytime Emmy Awards despite receiving mixed reviews.
The nominations underscore the continuing public interest in royal figures across television, with both projects drawing attention through very different storytelling styles and audiences.
