Putin Suggests Hand Grenade Explosion Led to Wagner Leader’s Plane Crash

Putin’s Controversial Theory

Russian President Vladimir Putin has put forward a controversial theory regarding the fatal crash of Yevgeny Prigozhin’s private jet.

Putin suggests that the plane was brought down by a hand grenade that exploded inside the aircraft.

This theory raises questions about the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The Wagner Leader’s Fatal Flight

The tragic incident occurred while Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner private military company, was on a private jet flight from Moscow to St. Petersburg on August 23rd.

The plane suddenly burst into flames and crashed to the ground, resulting in the loss of Prigozhin’s life, as well as those of his bodyguards and fellow Wagner commanders, including Dmitry Utkin.

Speculation and Accusations

Following the crash, there was speculation and accusations, with some pointing fingers at President Putin himself due to the strained relationship between him and Prigozhin, particularly in the context of the war in Ukraine.

Putin’s Explanation

In an attempt to distance himself from any responsibility, President Putin presented a different narrative. He suggested that fragments of hand grenades were found in the bodies of those killed in the crash and that there was no external impact on the plane.

Putin further speculated that the hand grenades might have detonated accidentally, possibly while being handled by Prigozhin or his Wagner mercenaries who were allegedly drunk or under the influence of cocaine.

Cocaine Discovery

President Putin also mentioned that 5kg of cocaine had been discovered during a search of Prigozhin’s private mansion in St. Petersburg earlier in the year.

This revelation adds complexity to the story surrounding Prigozhin and the Wagner group.

Questions and Doubts

While Putin presented this theory, not everyone is convinced. Former Wagner commander Marat Gabidullin, who left the group in 2019, expressed doubts about Putin’s claims, stating that he never noticed signs of drug use or excessive alcohol consumption by Prigozhin or Utkin.

Western intelligence officials also lean toward the theory that the explosion damaging the plane was internal rather than the result of external interference.

Unanswered Questions

The crash of Yevgeny Prigozhin’s private jet remains shrouded in mystery, with unanswered questions about what truly transpired on that fateful day.

Putin’s remarks have added a layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation into the incident.
