…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. Reports suggest that President Bola Tinubu is considering the appointment of Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, as the Minister of Defence.
Earlier, Kwankwaso had a meeting with Tinubu at the State House in Abuja to discuss his potential role in the new administration.
Kwankwaso’s Potential Involvement in the New Administration:
As the flag bearer of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in the previous Presidential election held in February, Kwankwaso’s discussions with Tinubu were centered around his potential involvement in the new administration.
It is now being reported that he may be selected as the Defense Minister.
In-Fighting within the All Progressives Congress:
Recent information obtained from Vanguard indicates the existence of internal conflicts within the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the allocation of ministerial positions.
A source informed the publication that the 20 special advisers who will be working closely with the President are expected to hold significant power and influence, possibly forming a “cabal.”
These appointments have become a subject of intense rivalry within the APC.
Tinubu’s Alignment with Rabiu Kwankwaso:
Amid the power struggles within the APC, Tinubu has reportedly aligned himself with Rabiu Kwankwaso, sidelining Umar Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State.
Despite Ganduje’s popularity loss in Kano State, Tinubu’s support for Kwankwaso, the Presidential candidate of the NNPP, indicates that he may be favored for the role of defense minister in the new administration.
