PowerBall Jackpot Soars to R97 Million After Friday Draw Produces No Winner

South Africa’s PowerBall jackpot has increased once again after Friday night’s draw failed to produce a jackpot winner.

No ticket matched all five main numbers together with the PowerBall number, meaning the estimated R90 million prize will carry over to the next draw on Tuesday, 6 October.

The main jackpot is now expected to reach approximately R97 million.

Friday’s PowerBall Numbers Revealed

The numbers drawn in the PowerBall game on Friday, 2 October, were:

15, 26, 27, 28, 39 and PowerBall 10.

Although nobody secured the jackpot, one player came particularly close to taking the top prize.

A single ticket matched all five main numbers but failed to match the PowerBall.

That ticket won R593,155.50 in Division 2.

23 Players Share Another Major Prize

A further 23 players matched four of the five main numbers together with the PowerBall.

Each of those winning tickets paid out R12,894.60.

The results show how close several players came to the jackpot without securing the full combination needed to claim the top prize.

PowerBall Xtra Jackpot Also Goes Unclaimed

The rollover was not limited to the main PowerBall game.

Friday’s R3 million PowerBall Xtra jackpot also went without a winner.

The winning PowerBall Xtra numbers were:

33, 36, 40, 41, 42 and PowerBall Xtra 04.

With no jackpot winner, the Xtra prize is expected to increase to approximately R6 million for Tuesday’s draw.

Why the Jackpot Keeps Growing

A PowerBall jackpot rolls over whenever no player successfully matches all five main numbers and the additional PowerBall number.

The unclaimed jackpot is then carried into the following draw, allowing the prize pool to grow.

Repeated rollovers can eventually push the jackpot into the tens or even hundreds of millions of rand.

South Africa’s Record PowerBall Jackpot

The current rollover comes months after South Africa recorded its biggest PowerBall jackpot win to date.

The record prize stands at R178,955,240.90, which was won on 20 January 2026.

The figure illustrates how dramatically the jackpot can increase when several consecutive draws pass without a winner.

R97 Million Up for Grabs on Tuesday

Attention now turns to Tuesday, 6 October, when an estimated R97 million PowerBall jackpot will be available.

PowerBall Xtra is also expected to offer an estimated R6 million after Friday’s jackpot went unclaimed.

However, the size of the prize does not alter the odds of winning. The probability of hitting the required combination remains the same regardless of how large the jackpot becomes.

For players planning to participate on Tuesday, the next draw could provide another opportunity to claim one of South Africa’s biggest lottery prizes.
