Power outages have impacted Eldorado Park and the nearby neighborhoods. According to Johannesburg City Power, there have been many power outages. The power utility stated that 12 distributors had lost their power supply.

This is due to both theft and vandalism, according to City Power. City Power has been experiencing long-term power disruptions. People in Eldorado Park have been without power for nearly three weeks.

Although there is no definite reason for these episodes, it has been suggested that they occurred when the Eldorado Park substation caught fire. This resulted in long-term outages throughout the area and its environs.

Electricity supply outages have impacted the local substations in Nancefield, Eldorado Park, and Soweto.

Frustrated residents took to the streets as the utility called for calm

Joburg City Power dispatched five teams to various areas on Friday, April 29. The teams were tasked with restoring power to the affected areas. Frustrated residents flocked to the streets to express their dissatisfaction.

According to EWN, the utility has asked for patience and calm while its staff continue their work.

Joburg outages: City Power working to restore several areas

As if a few days of load shedding leading up to the holiday weekend weren’t enough. Several regions of Johannesburg are currently without power due to a variety of factors. The most extensive damage was caused by a fire at a substation near Eldorado Park.

Repairs are also being carried out at a number of other locations throughout the city. Roodepoort is still without electricity in several areas. In Ruimsig and Wilgeheuwel, City Power teams worked through the night on Friday. In Ruimsig, a double cable problem is still being rectified. Overnight, a single cable issue in Wilgeheuwel was repaired.

Reuven and the nearby towns are experiencing disruptions due to what appears to be a much larger problem. On Saturday morning, a cable problem at the Wemmer substation could not be reached.
